While the name is steeped in heritage, the modern Jeep Wagoneer bears little resemblance to the pioneering full-sized SUVs that originally bore the name in the 1960s. It’s a far cry from the boxy, wood-sided wagons. The modern Wagoneer is sleek and sporty – and the newest addition, the Wagoneer S, takes it a step further. A brand-new model in 2024, the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is a whole new take on the SUV, and is propelling Jeep forward with a whole new attitude.

With plenty of differences from the past models, perhaps the most obvious one is under the hood. The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S is available only with an electric powertrain, based around a 100.5-kWh battery pack. A pair of electric motors provides the Wagoneer S with all-wheel drive and have a combined output of 600 horsepower. This propels the Wagoneer S from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.4 seconds, making it as quick off the line as the gas-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk that has long been Jeep’s crowning achievement in terms of tearing up the pavement. The Wagoneer S does it with much greater efficiency, providing 97 MPG-equivalent combined, with approximately 303 miles of range on a full charge. Using a Level 2 charging station or 240-volt outlet, the battery can be charged from 5% to 80% in seven hours.

While the standard Wagoneer is still in production, the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S doesn’t just differ under the hood. The iconic seven-slot grille is barely noticeable – as with other all-electric vehicles, the grille isn’t needed for functionality. It wraps around to slit-like headlights, all sitting above a sleek front fascia.

Inside, recycled and renewable materials feature, and there is seating for five. The sleek look and low-slung roofline limit passenger space, with front seat passengers getting 38 inches of headroom and second-row passengers getting 37.4 inches. Legroom is a little more generous, with 41.3 inches in front and 38 inches in the second row. With all seats in place, there’s a generous 30.6 cubic feet of cargo space available, plenty for book bags and groceries and more. Stowing the second row opens 64 cubic feet of cargo space, plenty for running regular errands.

The Wagoneer S is full of screens, which control the infotainment, climate controls, and more. A 12.3-inch infotainment touch screen comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration along with SiriusXM satellite radio. A 10-speaker audio system is standard, while a 19-speaker system is available. The integrated navigation system is voice activated, and numerous USB ports provide charging and media connection. An individual 10.25-inch touch screen in front of the front seat passenger allows them limited control over some features, including media control and navigation needs. This allows them to help the driver without reaching into the center screen.

Plenty of safety and assistance features come standard on the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, including adaptive cruise with stopping, lane-keeping assistance, a 360-degree surround camera, and parking assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a digital rearview mirror provide the driver with better visibility around the vehicle. Driver-attention monitoring – sometimes referred to as Drowsy Driver Detection – detects drowsiness and sends the driver an audible and visual signal to alert them to wake up or get off the road.

Only two trim levels are available for the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S.

The Limited trim has the standard features mentioned above, sitting on 20-inch aluminum machined wheels with painted accents. A power liftgate provides ease of loading and unloading, while a standard sunroof spans across the first and second rows of seats. Automatic climate control includes dual zone front controls, while both front seats are 8-way power adjustable. Both are heated, while all seats feature leatherette upholstery.

Carrying over from 2024, the Launch trim gets an upgraded 19-speaker audio system for premium sound. Outside, 20-inch black aluminum wheels provide a visual difference from the Limited trim. Inside, the front seats get heating and ventilation, massaging lumbar supports, and memory settings for both seats.
